HOMEBODY: A Ritual Party by Nia Calloway, involving original poetry, music, and dance. Centering around mental illness and ancestral healing.

HOMEBODY: A Ritual Party was performed in an artist residency with Judson Memorial Church, in New York City. HOMEBODY: A Ritual Party is an exploration of what home means within my Black body. Through the use of poetry, dance, song, and ritual, I re-examine what it means to call this body home while observing the obscurity of what home has meant for me as a Black person. I explore the relationship between ancestral trauma and recovering from an eating disorder as primary disruptors of feeling at home both internally and externally.
